Halloween Dish For Your Cat

Cat in Halloween costumeYou feel your Trick-or-Treater is already waiting for Halloween? No worries! This simple dish will rejoice your cat keeping the festive mood going, and it’s easy to cook, by the way.

Pumpkin chicken potage

Ingredients:

1 lb. of pumpkin (remove seeds and skin);
2-3 table spoons of plain rice or millet flakes (with no sugar, salt or fragrance);
2-3 pieces (up to 1 lb.) of chicken breast fillet; and
1 cup of water.

Dish components: pumpkin, chicken breast, plain rice flakes and water

Note: Do NOT add anything else like salt or pepper — your cat doesn’t need it.

Equipment:

1. Take a heat-resistant dish suitable for use in a microwave. You’ll need a lid for the dish as the potage should be cooked covered. The dish needs to be tall enough to let the potage stew without boiling away.

2. Ideally you’ll need an oven with a microwave function. Though, you can get by with a regular microwave.

Directions:

1. Put the chicken fillet into the dish.

2. Pour in the flakes.

3. Add pumpkin cut into pieces of 0.5-1 inch.

4. Pour 1/2 cup of water.

5. Cover the dish with a lid and place the dish into the microwave oven.

6. Cook for 25-30 min at 360 to 400 watts with 220 °F. If you are using a regular microwave with no roasting or baking mode, cook for 35-40 min at 360 to 400 watts.

7. Switch off the oven and leave the dish to stand for 10-15 min with the oven door closed.

8. Take the dish out of the oven and leave it to cool.

9. Add 1/2 cup of water and mash the potage up using a blender or with a table spoon.

10. Put half a cup of potage into a bowl and suggest it to your cat.

    Hi Cat Zee, nice to meet you here!
    Sure, all but chicken is optional. You can also add some turkey and tuna to your taste :-)
    However, I would recommend putting a piece of pumpkin at the side — just in honor of the holiday. Just a plain fresh pumpkin may smell not as attractive for a cat so it still may be not unreasonable to mix it with chicken and cook.
